Jeremiah 29:12 -14 ~ Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
Sound surrounds us and sound is what causes us to open our mouths. There is sound even in the most hidden thoughts and depths of man and it’s everything God has used to draw man to him.
It is the sound of the inner man’s anguish and despair that draws the father to the cry of his children, and it is joy and thanksgiving by faith that pleases the Lord. It is sound that has delivered many, and it is sound that has toppled walls of cities (Joshua 6:1-21) Sound goes before the battle (1 Chronicles 14:15) and yet there was silence when the war was won on the Cross (Isaiah 53:7)
Sound is one of the most excellent gifts…why? Because it’s the most encouraged thing to do; from the beginning God has been encouraging us to cry out and this requires you to make a sound (Psalm 116:2)
From Adam hiding behind a tree in the garden to the end of times we so await that ushers in the coming of the Lord, when every knee will bow and every tongue will confess Jesus is Lord. There is sound!
From the crackling of a burning bush to the heart of the father without a nation. From Miriam leading a procession in the wilderness with her tambourine (Exodus 15:20-27) and through the hands of a shepherd boy with a harp producing his symphony (1 Samuel 16:18, 23) Sound always goes before the Lord.
From Sarah’s intentional chuckle behind the sheath of a tent (Genesis 18:12-15) to a desperate longing from Hannah for fruit for her womb (1 Samuel 1:10-17) Yes, sound goes before God.
It is sound that manifested itself that it would come crying in the wilderness make straight the way of the Lord (John 1:19-23) that sound would reach the ears of the receiver, and the good news would echo from one neighbor to another, for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17) Sound sets the captive free!
It is the sound of the Father, it is the sound of the Savior, it is the call of Salvation. It requires a voice, it requires you to make a sound, for if yet, you have the blood to cover you, how will you be found? He speaks, cry out to me, call out to me and I will hear you and save you (Jeremiah 29:12-14)
And you! Who has received salvation, where is your sound? Where is your shout! Where is your harmonious sound?
Prayer
Today I pray beloved that if you hear the sound of his voice, you will not despise His word (Hebrew 3:8) and please do not harden your hearts! I pray today that sound will rise up from the depths of who you are in Christ and even if you have yet to encounter Christ, that you will make a sound to be found! I pray your sound opens the windows of heaven and pours out what you are so desperately in need of from your Father and Provider. Today I pray the power, edification and purpose of worship to transform your life and of those you are asking God for. I pray today you hear the Lord singing over you, for He speaks, He spoke, and He still resounds. Amen.
